Ollie Is The Paws Crossed Pet Of The Week

ELMSFORD, N.Y. – A 2-year-old treeing walker coonhound who loves “snuggle time” has been named the Paws Crossed Animal Rescue’s newest adoptable pet.

According to a statement from the shelter, Ollie was recently surrendered by his owner, but is truly “a wonderful boy” who is “incredibly sad not to be in a home with a family.”

“I happen to be a big fan of hounds, so Ollie had me at his first ‘Ah-WOOO’. Ollie is a very tall, lanky boy and has a distinctive howl; while I love that, I know this combination has deterred some people as they were looking through the kennels for dogs,” said Julie Potter, business manager of Paws Crossed.

Potter said she brought Ollie home to see how he’d do overnight in a home setting.

“He did not make one peep the entire stay,” she said. “He is house trained. He played with my own dog like they were old friends. He loved snuggle time and curled up in a little ball like a Transformer on our bed, sleeping through the entire night.”

Potter described Ollie as “a truly gentle soul” who just wants to be loved. Further, she said, the dog is a perfect companion for long walks or for hanging out on the couch.

Paws Crossed officials said Ollie is a strong dog who would do best in a home with older children and adults.

Anyone wishing to visit Ollie or any of the other pets up for adoption at Paws Crossed is urged to call 914-372-7878. Paws Crossed is located at 100 Warehouse Lane South, Elmsford, and can be found online.
