SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. -- Robin Hirsch and Sarah White, as well as six community poets, read their work at the 10th annual Writers on War & Peace Reading at the Hudson Valley Writers' Center, 300 Riverside Drive, Sleepy Hollow.
Hirsch is a former Oxford Fulbright and English-Speaking Union Scholar, who has acted, directed, taught, and published on both sides of the Atlantic. He was born in London during the Blitz, the son of German Jews who had fled Hitler. He is the author of "Last Dance at the Hotel Kempinski," (New England Press, 1995), for which he received two NYFA Fellowships and a Robert and Adele S. Blank Jewish Arts Award. He is co-owner of the Cornelia Street Café in Greenwich Village. He holds a joint Ph.D. in literature and theatre arts.
Sarah White grew up in Albany, N.Y. and Chatham, Va.. She graduated from Radcliffe College. For 23 years, she taught in the Department of French and Italian at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa.
