IRVINGTON, N.Y. — A village that has been voted as the Best Place to live in Westchester has not had it's own pharmacy in 15 years —now finally does.
Anna Donkin opened up NaturalFit Pharmacy in mid-September 2014 because it is uncommon to see a village without a pharmacy, and she was drawn to the fact that the Irvington community takes great pride in their village and they support small independent businesses.
"It felt like the perfect fit for what I was trying to do-- a modern take on the old-fashioned pharmacy. So, we don't only offer prescription medications, but also offer personalized service you don't see too much of nowadays," said Donkin.
Donkin said that smaller pharmacies really do give extra care and attention to their customers. The people of Irvington have really seemed to appreciate that, she said. The community has really embraced the store and the staff. Donkin said, "We've already gotten cookies and holiday thank you cards. The support really means a lot and we feel very fortunate to have had such a warm welcome."
NaturalFit Pharmacy also offers a wide range of herbal, organic, and homeopathic remedies. "Some of our biggest natural products are manuka honey, specialized teas, and food-based vitamins," said Donkin.
Donkin said that her and her staff already know most of their customers by name and their families. "In some of the families, the kids, parents, and grandparents all come to us," said Donkin.
NaturalFit Pharmacy delivery is always free and there is no minimum required on delivery. "We know that sometimes someone can not get to us and we try our best to accommodate that. I think that gives us an edge over the big chains," said Donkin.
"Business is growing and we are heading in the right direction. We find that when people come in for one prescription, they are usually return customers and often bring their friends and family over too," said Donkin.
