A stretch of the Long Island Expressway has reopened after a crash involving an overturned box truck resulted in the two-hour closure of the roadway on Wednesday morning, Dec. 18.
The crash happened westbound between Exit 40 (Jericho Turnpike/Route 25) and Exit 39 (Glen Cove Road), with stopped traffic at the scene and gridlock to Exit 43 (South Oyster Bay Road) just before 6 a.m.
The right lane reopened around 8 a.m. All lanes reopened around 9 a.m.
