Wantagh Schools Superintendent John McNamara announced that a total of 15 high school students - including 13 members of the senior class - have tested positive for the virus and have been placed into quarantine.

McNamara says that the cases have been traced back to a social event held over the weekend that students attended en masse, though they are reportedly not all connected.

Due to the small outbreak, seniors will be placed on full remote learning for the remainder of the week, with students transitioning back into in-person learning on Monday, March 1.

In addition to the suspension of in-person learning, all extracurricular activities and athletics have also been put on hold, forcing student-athletes to miss the remainder of the winter season schedule.
