Huntington’s Public Safety Director Pete Sammis is out after allegedly sending the offensive email, which included sexist and inappropriate comments about a female employee working for the town.

Sammis, who wrote the “vulgar” email in November last year, was suspended for two weeks in January and ordered to undergo sensitivity training.

According to News 12, the suspension was determined by Town Supervisor Chad Lupinacci, though some members of the Town Board reportedly weren’t consulted and were incensed about it.

“We the Town Board are the hiring and firing authority for this director’s post among other top posts and should have been made aware of it from the outset,” Board member Joan Cergol stated. “There can be no place and no band-aid response to this behavior in our town government.”

A Town of Huntington Board Meeting was scheduled for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11.
