Police investigators on Long Island are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a hit-and-run driver that left a woman with traumatic injuries.

According to Nassau County Police detectives, a woman was struck while walking northbound at approximately 7:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22 on Milburn Avenue in Baldwin. The driver then proceeded to speed away and fled the scene.

The 39-year-old woman suffered multiple traumatic injuries, police said, and was transported to a local hospital in “serious, but stable condition.”

Police said that the hit-and-run driver was in a dark-colored vehicle and likely has damage to the passenger-side front end and hood damage. Detectives offered an update over the weekend, saying the incident remains under investigation, and anyone with information regarding the hit-and-run has been asked to contact Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-244-TIPS.
