Two teenagers were injured, one seriously, when a motorcycle crashed with a car on Long Island.

It happened on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at approximately 7:45 p.m. in Copiague, Suffolk County Police said.

The boys, traveling southbound on Amerigo Vespucci Avenue on a 2007 motorcycle, failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection of Campagnoli Avenue and were struck by an eastbound 2013 Infiniti JX-35. Neither boy was wearing safety equipment, according to police.

The passenger on the motorcycle, Rainiery Balbuena, 13, of Copiague was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip in serious condition.

The operator of the motorcycle, Luis Santos, 14, of Copiague was transported to the same hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Infiniti, Laticia Britton-Marie, 45, of Copiague, was not injured.

The motorcycle and the Infiniti were impounded for safety checks. Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
