Two Men Confront Woman In Driveway Of Her Smithtown Home, Steal Money, Checks, Police Say

Police are investigating an incident during which a Long Island woman was allegedly confronted outside her home by two men who stole money and checks.

The incident took place in Smithtown around 9:40 a.m., Tuesday, July 26, as the woman stood in her driveway on Grandview Lane.

While standing in the driveway,  two men, both wearing ski masks, approached the woman and displayed a gun, said the Suffolk County Police. 

While speaking to the woman in Spanish, they motioned for her to go into the home, said police.

The woman, who does not speak Spanish, attempted to run from the men who then grabbed her and engaged in a struggle with her, police said.

The woman was able to free herself and run toward the street, police added.

The men stole money and checks from the woman’s vehicle and fled the scene, police said. 

The woman was treated by ambulance personnel at the scene, police added.
