Three Long Island HS Football Players Airlifted To Hospitals After Injuries In Games

Three junior varsity high school football players were hospitalized with injuries sustained in separate games on Long Island on Saturday, Sept. 14.

Two Long Beach JV players are said to be in stable condition after colliding in a game at around 10:50 a.m.

According to Nassau County Police, Fourth Precinct officers responded to the Long Beach High School located at 322 Lagoon Drive for two youths injured while playing football. 

Upon arrival, police observed an injured 14-year-old boy who had collided with a 15-year-old player. The 14-year-old sustained a neck injury and was transported by a Nassau County Police helicopter to a nearby hospital for treatment. The 15-year-old victim suffered a shoulder injury and was transported in a Nassau County Police Ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The other injury happened in Bethpage at 10:15 a.m.

According to police, Eighth Precinct police responded to the Bethpage High School located at 10 Cherry Avenue for a youth injured while playing football. 

Upon police arrival, police observed a 15-year-old JV player from Levittown's Division Avenue High School injured. The victim fell on his neck and head causing injury to his back, police said.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment in a Nassau County Police helicopter.
