Police investigators on Long Island are seeking the public’s assistance in tracking down the suspects implicated in detonating an unspecified device at an area beach that left a crater in the sand.

Suffolk County Police Arson Section detectives released photos as they attempt to locate whoever detonated the device on Fox Island in the Town of Babylon on Sunday, Nov. 28.

According to police, the department received multiple emergency calls at approximately 11 a.m. on Sunday morning, with Marine Bureau officers locating a crater - roughly four-foot wide and two-feet deep on Fox Island off the coast of Babylon less than an hour later.

Investigators said that the crater appears to have been created when the device was detonated.

No injuries were reported.

Police said that Arson Section detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the operator of a vessel seen leaving the area at the time of the detonation. The boat is described as having stripes.
