Suffolk Teen Stabs Mother To Death During Early Morning Dispute, Police Say

A 19-year-old is behind bars after stabbing his mother to death in an early morning dispute outside their Long Island home, police said.

It happened Sunday, Dec. 8 at 6:07 a.m. in Brentwood, Suffolk County Police said.

The teen, Akcel Arriaza, and his mother, Dora Villatoro-Arriaza, 46, were having a dispute in a parked vehicle in front of their home at 21 Adams Ave. when Arriaza stabbed his mother, according to police. Villatoro-Arriaza was pronounced dead at the scene.

Villatoro-Arriaza’s husband and three other children were inside the home at the time of the stabbing and were not injured, police said.

Arriaza, 19, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the stabbing, and charged with second-degree murder. He will be held overnight at the Third Precinct and arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Monday, Dec. 9.
