Six faculty members and three students were hospitalized after being exposed to pepper spray during a fight between students that broke out at a school in Dix Hills.

The incident took place around 8 a.m., Thursday, May 9, at the Wilson Technological Center in Dix Hills which is part of Western Suffolk BOCES, when a female student sprayed pepper spray at two other students, said the Suffolk County Police.

The two students who were sprayed, and an additional student, as well as six faculty members, were transported to Huntington Hospital for evaluation, police said.

The student, 18, of North Amityville, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of noxious matter, a misdemeanor. The student, who was not injured, was not identified by police.

Police said the incident is currently under investigation.

The Dix Hills, Melville, and Greenlawn fire departments responded to the incident, officials said.
