Police investigators on Long Island have realized a doorbell camera video of a porch pirate who calmly stole a package from an area home.

Detectives said that at 1:43 p.m. on Friday, April 2, a man entered the property of a Mermaid Avenue home in Wantagh and stole a package that had been delivered earlier in the day.

In the video, the suspect can be seen casually walking up the path to the front door of the home in a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and hat before taking the package and walking back to his car, and slowly driving away.

Police said that the man was driving a dark-colored four-door sedan when he was caught removing the packages from the front stoop. He then fled northbound on Mermaid Avenue toward the intersection of Bayport Court.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect or stolen package has been asked to contact Seventh Squad detectives at (516) 573-6753 or Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
