Police: Man Fires Gun In Air During Dispute On Residential Suffolk Street

A man was arrested after allegedly firing a handgun in the air during an overnight dispute with multiple people on Long Island, police said.

Suffolk County Police officers responded to Elm Street in Huntington at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Friday, June 18, where there were reports of gunshots fired.

According to police, the investigation into the incident determined that a man fired a gun into the air during a dispute with several people before fleeing the scene on foot.

No injuries were reported.

Officers were able to obtain a description of the suspect, later identified as Huntington Station resident Tyshon Parker, and tracked him down shortly after on nearby Fairview Street, where he was taken into custody without further incident.

Police noted that at the time he was apprehended, Parker was in possession of a loaded .380 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun.

Parker, 24, was charged with prohibited use of a weapon and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
