A drunk woman was found asleep in a running vehicle in the parking lot of a Long Island mall with her infant child in the backseat, according to police.

It happened on Friday, Aug. 14 at 2:40 p.m. in Valley Stream.

Units responded to the rear parking lot of the Green Acres Mall for a report of a suspicious person.

Connecticut resident Latifah Tucker, 28, was found asleep behind the wheel of her running vehicle while the vehicle was in reverse, Nassau County Police said.

Officers woke Tucker up and the vehicle rolled in reverse before coming to a stop, police said.

Police say Tucker’s 7-month-old daughter was in the backseat at the time.

Tucker, who had glassy, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech, was taken into custody without incident, according to police.

Tucker was charged with:

  • driving while intoxicated,
  • aggravated driving while intoxicated (with a child under 15 in the vehicle) under Leandra's Law,
  • and endangering the welfare of a child.

She is scheduled to be arraigned on Saturday, Aug. 14 in Mineola.
