The crash occurred when a stopped 2012 Infinity Q56 on South Country Road facing westbound at the intersection of North Dunton Avenue was rear-ended by a 2007 Hyundai Elantra traveling westbound at approximately 6:45 p.m. Saturday, June 23, Suffolk County Police said.
The driver of the Hyundai, a 62-year-old East Patchogue man, was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue where he was pronounced dead. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Tervell Turner, 51, of Mastic Beach and two adult female passengers were also transported to Long Island Community Hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
