One person was killed in an overnight crash involving a FedEx vehicle on the Long Island Expressway.

It happened around 11:35 p.m. Tuesday, May 4 in Ronkonkoma.

A 2018 Honda sedan, driven by Stephen Neville, age 29, of Lake Ronkonkoma, collided with a 2017 Nissan sedan, driven by Xavier Rodriguez, age 19, of Centereach, on the eastbound Long Island Expressway as the two vehicles were attempting to turn onto Exit 60, Suffolk County Police said.

The Honda came to a stop in the center lane and the Nissan stopped on the exit ramp, according to police.

Both drivers exited their vehicles and determined neither was injured, police said.

Neville got back into the Honda, which was then struck by an eastbound FedEx cargo truck, causing him to be ejected from the vehicle, said police.

Neville was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner., according to police.

Rodriguez was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police said.

The driver of the FedEx cargo truck, Naim Khan, 29, of Richmond Hill, Queens, was not injured, said police.

The Honda and the Nissan were impounded for safety checks.

The FedEx cargo truck was checked by Motor Carrier Safety Section at the scene and released to the owner, according to police.
