One Dead After Massive House Fire Breaks Out On Long Island

One occupant of a Long Island home was found dead, another was seriously injured when a massive house fire broke out just before 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11.

The home, in Bayville, was fully engulfed in flames when Nassau County Police and the Bayville Fire Department responded to a 911 call for a house fire on Bayville Park Boulevard, Nassau County Police said.

At the time of the fire, there were two occupants inside. One adult was pronounced dead at the scene and another adult male, suffering from serious injuries, was transported to a local hospital for treatment. He is in critical condition.

The Bayville Fire Department was assisted by eight other local departments, which consisted of approximately 20 pieces of apparatus and more than a hundred firefighters. Three firefighters were transported to a local hospital for treatment for minor injuries. Arson/Bomb Squad detectives and Fire Marshalls responded to the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
