It happened Friday, Nov. 1 at 5:50 p.m. in Massapequa.

According to Nassau County Police, units responded to a Massapequa residence on a report of a suicidal male who had locked himself in a bedroom with a knife.

Upon arrival of the Emergency Services Unit, officers breached the door of the bedroom where the subject was attempting to hang himself with an electrical cord and several zip ties, police said.

One of the Emergency Services Unit officers lifted the aided to prevent pressure on the neck, while another officer quickly cut the aided down and cut all the zip ties off the man’s neck.

The aided began to breathe on his own and was transported to a local hospital for treatment, police said.
