120 Firefighters From 14 Departments Battle Four-Alarm Long Island House Fire

A total of 120 firefighters from 14 departments battled a four-alarm house fire that moved to another structure on Long Island.

The blaze broke out around 12:40 p.m., Monday, Feb. 24, in Farmingdale at 490 Secatogue Ave., said Nassau County Police.

The fire spread and also caused damage to a residence located on Nelson Street, causing the fourth-alarm to be sounded.

Eighth Precinct police officers were first to arrive at the scene, observing a residence fully engulfed causing extensive damage. 

All occupants were out of the house, Nassau County Police said.

Two firemen were treated at a local hospital for minor burns.

One firefighter was also treated for an eye injury. 

The Farmingdale Fire Department responded to extinguish the fire along with the assistance of the:

  • East Farmingdale Fire Department, 
  • Bethpage Fire Department, 
  • South Farmingdale Fire Department, 
  • Syosset Fire Department, 
  • Deer Park Fire Department, 
  • Melville Fire Department, 
  • Massapequa Fire Department,
  • North Massapequa Fire Department,
  • Hicksville Fire Department,
  • Plainview Fire Department,
  • Levittown Fire Department,
  • East Norwich Fire Department,
  • and the Nassau County Fire Marshall. 

The investigation is ongoing.
