A man shot and killed his wife before turning the gun on himself in Lake Grove, according to Suffolk County Police Department.

A 911 caller reported that while conducting a wellness check, the husband had been found dead at an apartment at 184 Hallock Road on Sunday afternoon, June 30, police said.

Officers responded to the scene at approximately 1:20 p.m. and found Varujan Manougian dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said. His wife, Barbara Manougian, was found in her vehicle that was parked directly outside of the apartment building with a gunshot wound a short time later.

It is believed that Varujan Manougian shot his wife before going inside and killing himself, according to police. There was no one else in the home at the time of the incident.

Varujan Manougian, 69, and Barbara Manougian, 67, were both pronounced dead on the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the incident to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392.
