A monthslong investigation has led to the arrests of a man and woman for injuring and robbing a 79-year-old Ronkonkoma woman in May.

Patrick Schlereth and Brittany Thorner robbed the woman of her purse in a parking lot, located at 318 Portion Road, in Ronkonkoma on May 26, at approximately 5:45 p.m., Suffolk County Police said. During the robbery the woman suffered injuries to her arm.

Following an investigation by Fourth Squad detectives, Schlereth, 25, of Seventh Avenue, in East Meadow and Thorner, 22, of the same address, were arrested in a car at the intersection of Newbridge Road and Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow at approximately 12:55 p.m. Saturday, July 6 and charged with second-degree robbery.

The two were held overnight at the Fourth Precinct and are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Sunday, July 7.
