Police are investigating a shooting that took place outside a bar on Long Island overnight.
The victim, a 24-year-old man, was standing outside C.J. Bond’s Sports Bar, located at 1381 Brentwood Rd. in Bay Shore, when the incident occurred, Suffolk County Police said.
The Bay Shore resident was then approached by a man wearing a red-and-purple ski mask and carrying a handgun at approximately 2 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, police said.
The suspect struck the victim in the head with the gun and demanded money, according to police. After the victim gave up his wallet, the suspect shot him once in the leg and fled the scene, police said.
Friends of the victim transported him to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released.
Detectives are asking anyone with information on the shooting to contact the Third Squad at 631-854-8352 or Crime Stoppers 800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
