A man on Long Island allegedly attempted to lure a teenage girl into his vehicle by displaying money, police said.

The 14-year-old girl, who was on her way to school in Franklin Square, was approached by a man on Center Drive at approximately 7:20 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11, Nassau County Police said.

According to police, the man was driving an older model black Toyota Corolla. At the time of the luring incident, the man allegedly displayed money and attempted to get the girl to enter her vehicle.

Police said that the teenager immediately fled the area and notified Nassau County Police.

The man in the Corolla was described as an African American in his mid-30s, weighing approximately 180 pounds with a dark complexion, dark hair, and braids. He fled in the Corolla east on Center Drive after the teen fled.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the luring incident has been asked to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-224-TIPS.
