A 36-year-old man is facing charges after police say he burglarized a pharmacy in Lake Ronkonkoma.

Suffolk County Police say they responded to a burglar alarm at Slater Pharmacy (407 Hawkins Ave.) on Monday, June 3 around 7 a.m.

Upon arrival, police say they observed a hole in the wall in the corner of the building.

A canine officer responded to the scene and initiated a track through a wooded area in the rear of the store, police say.

The canine officer then located cash along the track as well as a man with white particles on his clothing that matched the building materials described in the burglary, according to police.

The man was identified as 36-year-old Jason Romano of Lake Ronkonkoma, police say. He was charged with third-degree burglary and held overnight at Fourth Precinct pending arraignment.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on this burglary to call the Fourth Squad at (631) 854-8452.
