Man Charged In Connection With Fatal Overdose On Long Island

As part of “Operation Natalie” - the code name for the Nassau County Police Department’s “war against opioids” - Nassau County Police Department and Port Washington Police Department investigators arrested Andrew Banks, of Manhattan, who allegedly supplied the drugs that led to the overdose in Port Washington.

Banks was arrested at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19 in Manhattan.

Police said that Banks was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal sale of a controlled substance. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at First District Court in Hempstead.

In a statement, officials said, 
“The Nassau County Police Department reminds the public that as part of Operation Natalie and our multi-prong approach of Education, Awareness, Enforcement, Treatment, Diversion and After Care Visits, we will be continuing with our zero-tolerance response to any and all illegal drug activity within the county.”
