Long Island Woman In Stolen Vehicle Caught With Loaded Gun, Police Say

A traffic stop resulted in the discovery of a woman driving a stolen car with a loaded gun on Long Island, police said.

It happened on Friday, Aug. 23 just after 9:30 p.m. in Roslyn.

According to Nassau County Police, Danisha Patterson, 27, of Elmont, was observed by officers operating a 2016 white Nissan Maxima. The vehicle moved from a lane unsafely and officers activated their emergency lights and conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop on Old Northern Boulevard, police said.

Patterson was unable to produce a valid driver’s license and an investigation was conducted leading to her arrest for operating a stolen vehicle, according to police. Further investigation led to a loaded black 9mm pistol being found inside the vehicle.

Patterson was charged with criminal possession of weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, unauthorized use of a vehicle, aggravated unlicensed operation and multiple traffic violations. 

She was arraigned on Saturday, Aug. 24 at First District Court in  Hempstead.
