The incident took place in New Cassel around 5:50 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 1 in the area of 846 Prospect Ave.
According to detectives, two men were arguing when the incident escalated one was stabbed by the other in the chest. The suspect, identified as Emilio Cruz-Yanes, age 59, of Newe Cassel, then fled the scene.
The victim, a 50-year-old man, was transported to an area hospital for treatment and evaluation.
A thorough investigation was conducted and Cruz-Yanes was arrested without incident.
He was charged with first-degree assault and will be arraigned on Wednesday, Nov. 2 in Hempstead.
