The 15-year-old girl was riding her bicycle on Bayville Avenue in Bayville at approximately 5:25 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, when she was struck by a 2020 Dodge Ram head-on before the driver turned left onto Dickerson Avenue, police said.
The teenager suffered head trauma and was airlifted by a Nassau County Police helicopter to a local hospital, where she is currently listed in stable condition.
Police said that the driver, a 22-year-old man, stayed at the scene and his truck passed brake and safety checks. The investigation is ongoing.
