Fire Breaks Out At Row Of Long Island Stores

An early morning four-alarm fire damaged several businesses at a Long Island shopping plaza.

The fire started around 2:40 a.m., Friday, Nov. 22 in Cedarhurst when Nassau County Police called the Lawrence Cedarhurst Fire Department reporting smoke coming from the building.

The building, located at 604 Central Avenue, is home to a yogurt and ice cream store, a dry cleaner, pharmacy, and a pizza restaurant. 

Firefighters arrived within a couple of minutes and found that the fire had spread to the basement area of the building, causing the fire to spread to all stores, fire officials told ABC 7 News.

All of the businesses received heavy damage.

Police report there were no injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
