Driver In Critical Condition After Long Island Crash

A man was hospitalized in critical condition after officers responding to a crash on Long Island found him suffering from an unrelated medical condition.

Officers responded to a minor crash at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Merrick Road in Baldwin at about 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

One of the drivers was unconscious and not breathing, and officers began performing CPR, police said.

NCPD said Nassau Police Medics and officers took the man to an area hospital for further treatment.

It was determined that the man had suffered from a non-accident-related medical condition, police said.

The two vehicles involved in the accident sustained minimal damage, authorities said.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
