Central Islip Woman Reportedly Used Vacuum Cleaner Cord In Strangulation Death Of Mother

A Central Islip woman reportedly used a vacuum cleaner cord to kill her mother and then calmly called 911 to report the crime, said the Suffolk County Police.

Sharon Easter, 57, was arrested around 8:09 a.m., Tuesday, June 18, at a home in Central Islip, after calling 911 and saying she had just killed her mother, police said.

Third Precinct Patrol officers responded to 66 Cocoanut St., and found Dorothy Easter, 76, dead from strangulation wounds, police said.

Police reportedly found she had been strangled with a vacuum cleaner cord.

Detectives charged Sharon with murder and she was held overnight at the Fourth Precinct. She is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday, June 19.
