19-Year-Old Killed When Car Crashes Into Pole, Trees In Southampton

A 19-year-old East Quogue man was killed after crashing his vehicle into a pole, police said.

The crash took place around 9:30 a.m., Saturday, June 1, when Gianni Mongelluzzo crashed his 1997 Chevrolet Corvette into a pole and trees on Old Country Road near Lewis Road in East Quogue, said the Town of Southhampton Police.

The 19-year-old was pulled from the vehicle by East Quogue firefighters and airlifted by the Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

No one else was injured in the crash.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
