Modesto DiRaimo who was the popular owner of DiRaimo Pizzeria in Huntington died Friday, Aug. 16, at age 83.
DiRaimo of Woodbury owned the restaurant for 41 years, according to his obituary.
He was born on Oct. 26, 1935.
He was the husband of the late Elana and father of Joseph(Christine), Maryellen(Joseph) and Steven(Elizabeth).
He was the grandfather of Victoria, Joseph, Modesto, Stefano, Elena, and Lucia; and brother of Annibale, Elena, Rosa, and the late Alba.
Modesto is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass was held Tuesday, Aug. 20.
Condolence messages and memories posted by friends and customers in an online memorial recalled a friendly and kind man.
"Customers since they opened and now our children and grandchildren," one said.
Another said, "The kind and nice memories of the talks and visits to Mr. DiRaimo's special table at the pizza place will always be cherished...We were always treated like family."
