Nassau County Officer Dies At 46 After Accident In Plainview Home

A Nassau County Police Sergeant died following an accident at his Plainview home.

Sgt. Edward Sholl, 46, a Long Island native who grew up in Levittown, died after being electrocuted Friday, Aug. 16, while repairing a washing machine at his home.

Sholl served as an instructor at the Nassau County Police Academy. He began his career in law enforcement in 1993 with the New York City Police Department were he worked until 2005 when he joined the Nassau County Police. 

Known as being a great friend, Sholl was also a first responder at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, where he worked in recovery and rescue efforts.

He graduated from Division Avenue High School in Levittown and went on to earn an associate degree from Nassau Community College and a bachelor's degree from the University of Phoenix.

Sholl is survived by his wife of 22 years, Colleen Sholl and daughters Catherine and Carolynn Sholl. He was the son of  Robert and Lynn Sholl and brother to Jennifer, Liza, and Rebecca, according to his obituary.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Aug. 20 at Chapey & Sons in Bethpage followed by a funeral on Wednesday, Aug. 21.
