A 57-year-old woman is in custody after police say she murdered her mother at their home in Central Islip.

Sharon Easter called 911 at 8:09 a.m. Tuesday, June 18 and told an operator she killed her mother, Suffolk County Police said. 

Third Precinct Patrol officers responded to 66 Cocoanut St. and found Dorothy Easter, 76, deceased from strangulation wounds.

Homicide Squad detectives charged Sharon with second-degree murder. She will be held overnight at the Fourth Precinct, and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday, June 19.
