Numerous organizations and law enforcement agencies, including New York State Police, the Child Advocacy Center of Putnam County, the County Probation Department and the Kent, Carmel, Cold Spring and Brewster Police Departments, worked together to assist with the launching of the task force, which is the latest initiative from Putnam Northern Westchester Women’s Resource Center.

The task force’s official purpose is to spread awareness and information about domestic and sexual violence, human trafficking and the tragedies that often result from them.

“The goal is to empower individuals to seek help for themselves or others whom they feel may be in need of assistance,” said Putnam Sheriff Robert L. Langley Jr.

Agencies in the task force will also share statistics and perform educational awareness and training throughout the community at locations such as high schools and other organizations that may have clients in need of services.

“There is help,” said Langley. “For you, a family member, a friend…please reach out.”
