The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Nassau residents regarding the residency of 52-year-old David Lewis, who had been in Nassau County Correctional Center and reported a move to Keopel Place in Hempstead.

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Lewis as a Level 3 threat, which means he is a “high-risk repeat offender and possible threat to public safety.” He has also been designated as a predicate sex offender.

According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Lewis had sexual contact with his 9-year-old victim in January 2004 and was arrested by the Nassau County Police Department's Missing Person and Sex Offender Registry Unit. Lewis was convicted of forcible touching in July that year and sentenced to one year in jail. He is now under the jurisdiction of the Hempstead Village Police Department.
