Roosevelt resident Ever Martinez-Reyes has been sentenced to 20 years in prison and 20 years of post-release supervision for the rape of a woman in Freeport in September last year.

Singas said that at approximately 2 a.m. on Sept. 28 last year, Martinez-Reyes followed his victim down a Freeport street, struck her in the face, knocking her unconscious.

Martinez-Reyes then dragged the woman to the side of her front lawn and repeatedly punched and kicked her in the face, Singas said. While his victim was unconscious, Martinez-Reyes sexually assaulted her. The attack ended when the woman regained consciousness and fought off her assailant.

Martinez-Reyes was arrested on Oct. 5 last year by members of the Nassau County Police Department.

Martinez-Reyes, 25, pleaded guilty on Thursday, Sept. 26 to two counts of first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree sexual abuse, and four counts of second-degree assault, all violent felonies. As part of his guilty plea, he must also register as a sex offender when he is released from prison.

“This defendant showed no mercy when he brutally attacked and sexually assaulted a woman just steps from her front door,” Singas said. “After an extensive manhunt by our law enforcement partners this defendant was arrested and thanks to my prosecutors this predator will now spend the next 20 years of his life behind bars.”
