Driver Nabbed Months After Deadly Hit-Run Crash In Ronkonkoma, Police Say

Months after a 59-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Long Island, the suspected driver has been arrested.

Qiulong Chen, age 35, of Ronkonkoma, was arrested Thursday, March 2 in connection to death of Joseph Biggica, according to Suffolk County Police. 

A passing driver found Biggica lying unresponsive on Remington Boulevard at around 6:20 p.m. on Oct. 25, 2022. He was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

An autopsy revealed he had died from injuries consistent with being struck by a car.

Detectives with the agency’s Major Case Unit determined that Chen was driving a Honda CRV when he struck Biggica and fled the scene, police said. 

Chen is charged with leaving the scene of an incident with a fatality and criminal tampering. He was expected to be arraigned at Suffolk County Court in Riverhead on Thursday, March 2.
