Corey Henson, age 31, of Centereach, was arrested in the crash that happened in Island Park at about 9:10 p.m. on Monday, July 11, the Nassau County Police Department said in an update on Wednesday, July 13.
NCPD said Dodanim Emanuel Chavez, of Island Park, was struck by a vehicle that was traveling south on Long Beach Road near Marina Place.
The vehicle fled the scene, police said.
Chavez suffered severe trauma and was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, NCPD said.
NCPD said Henson is charged with leaving the scene of an incident (fatality) and leaving the scene of an incident (property damage.)
He is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday, July 13, police said.
