F.H. Riley's, 400 New York Ave., Huntington: A comfortable bistro with wood and brick details in the design. This is a restaurant and social gathering place with a substantial "bites" on a happy hour menu, wine, and beer discounts.

The Village Idiot Pub, 8 E. Main St., Patchogue: A pub/restaurant, there's a "thriving nightlife" with DJs on weekends and happy hour with drink specials, says their website.

Tara Inn, 1519 Main St., Port Jefferson: It's a neighborhood bar with steaks, burgers, and cocktails. Food is inexpensive and there are happy hour specials.
