Restaurants in Levittown and Franklin Square have served their last meals after 25 years and 40 years, respectively. The company said that it closed the latest two locations as it “evaluates the restaurant’s footprint.”

"As shifting consumer demographics and market dynamics present challenges across the industry, it is incumbent on us to regularly evaluate our restaurant footprint with a focus on long-term viability and strategic resource investment as we work to reinvigorate the beloved Friendly’s brand,” the company said in a statement.

“Unfortunately, in some cases, this process results in the difficult decision to close underperforming locations that can no longer be sustained by the local market.”

Earlier this year, the company announced that 23 Friendly’s restaurants were closing in New York and Connecticut, including another Long Island location, in Middle Island. Employees have since been transferred to other stores.

There are now 16 Friendly’s locations on Long Island, including locations in Syosset, Mineola, East Islip, East Meadow, Coram, Stony Brook, Lake Ronkonkoma, Massapequa Park, Medford, Smithtown, Commack, and Miller Place.
