The fact that the area will see its first accumulating snowfall on Saturday into Saturday night does not come as a surprise.
But the updated projected accumulation totals for the storm are higher than was earlier anticipated.
The latest projections now call for up to 3 to 5 inches in Dutchess.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Dutchess from 7 a.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday.
Periods of snow will cause travel difficulties and motorists should be prepared for snow-covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving, the National Weather Service said.
