Acting State Supreme Court Justice Kimberly O'Connor ruled Monday that the state of New York has met its "constitutional obligation" to these schools, according to Lohud.com.

The suit was based on a 2007 Court of Appeals ruling  that ordered the state to provide more aid to New York City schools.

Municipalities involved in the “Small Cities” lawsuit include Mount Vernon, Poughkeepsie, Newburgh, Niagara Falls, Port Jervis, Utica, Jamestown and Kingston, Lohud.com reported. An appeal is anticipated.
