$100 Million Available For Nonprofits, Sen. Serino Says

HYDE PARK, N.Y. -- About $100 million in state money is available to help nonprofit organizations make capital improvements, and state Sen. Sue Serino is encouraging local nonprofits to apply by the Sept. 29 deadline.

The funding is available through the state's Nonprofit Infrastructure Capital Investment Program. Grant between $50,000 and $1,000,000 will be awarded.

"Our nonprofit organizations provide invaluable services throughout our community that improve lives and provide cost-effective solutions to many challenges that the state faces," Serino said.

"We are working to ensure that they have the resources they need to continue to do their incredible work, and I am proud to have helped pass a state budget that makes them a priority, by ensuring that $100 million will be available to assist them in meeting their various missions."

To be eligible, nonprofits must have their own unique Employer Identification Number, Taxpayer Identification Number or a SFS Vendor Identification Number, and meet all of the following criteria:

  • they are a "human services organization," defined as one that provides programs and services in New York State that protect the health and well-being of individuals and families residing in the state;
  • they are registered and prequalified with the NYS Grants Gateway at the time the application is due;
  • they provide prevention, intervention, respite and/or habilitative services directly to individuals and/or families who reside in the state;
  • they receive or received funding through state contracts, state-authorized payments or state payment rates during fiscal years 2016 or 2017; and
  • they have annual revenue of at least $100,000.
