Suspect On Loose After Taxi Driver Robbed In Poughkeepsie, Police Say

A suspect is on the loose after a taxi driver was robbed in the area, according to police.

It happened just before 12:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16 on Grant Street in the City of Poughkeepsie.

The victim reported being in her taxi waiting for a fare when she was approached by a young, slim black man demanding her money who was armed with what appeared to be a kitchen knife, according to police.

Approximately $100 in assorted currency was taken by the suspect, who then fled towards Smith Street, police said.

The man is described as being approximately 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8, wearing a red shirt, close-cut hair and riding a bike.
