POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Police are investigating what appears to be a suspicious fire in a Poughkeepsie apartment late Thursday that may have been a result of a recent eviction, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.

No injuries were reported. Firefighters were called about 10 p.m. to the building on Franklin Street, and they were able to keep the blaze from spreading to other apartments, the Poughkeepsie Journal reports.

Firefighters said the blaze appeared to have started in the bedroom and living room, which indicates it may not have been an accident. Authorities are trying to contact a former tenant recently evicted from the apartment, the Poughkeepsie Journal says.
