A man is facing multiple charges after allegedly violating an Order of Protection during a domestic dispute that turned violent over the weekend, state police said.

The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department announced the arrest of Hyde Park resident Michael Kazimer, 52, on Monday, who was allegedly involved in the domestic dispute in Poughkeepsie on Friday night.

Police said that Kazimer was involved in a physical domestic dispute, during which he violated a duly served Order of Protection by grabbing his victim’s neck and applying enough force that his victim couldn’t breathe. Kazimer proceeded to allegedly prevent his victim from contacting police during the dispute.

According to police, the victim was able to get free and fled the area before coming to the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department to report what had happened. Kazimer’s victim was treated for her injuries by members of the Arlington Fire Department.

Kazimer was arrested following an investigation and charged with a felony count of first-degree criminal contempt, as well as criminal obstruction of breathing and criminal mischief, both misdemeanors. Following arraignment, Kazimer was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail. He is due back int he Town of Poughkeepsie Court later this year to answer the charges.
